L. Legrand et al., Investigations on the stability of titanium(II) species in AlCl3-dimethylsulfone electrolytes, ELECTR ACT, 46(15), 2001, pp. 2407-2413
The stability of titanium(II) species was studied in AlCl3-dimethylsulfone
electrolyte at 130 degreesC through voltammetry and chronopotentiometry. Th
e reduction of Ti-III to Ti-II involves an electrochemical-chemical ErCi' m
echanism, i.e. reversible electron transfer followed by an homogeneous oxid
ation reaction of Ti-II to Ti-III with dimethylsulfone acting as an oxidizi
ng species. The pseudo-first-order rate constant value of the chemical step
, worked out from current reversal chronopotentiometry (CRC) equals 0.21 +/
- 0.03 s(-1). (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
