Abstract
A system which can simultaneously provide coherent local oscillator (LO) si gnals and a precise measurement of distance over a radio link by measuring the phase of continuous signals is described. Ambiguities ill distance caus ed by inability to count integral numbers of wavelengths are resolved by th e Chinese remainder theorem (CRT). This is the first application of the CRT to counting wavelengths. Because wavelengths are contiguous, no error is i ntroduced.
