Abstract
The synthesis of two new dithiols, 1,8-dimercapto-2,7-di(tert-butyl)naphtha lene (H2L1) and 1,8-dimercaptonaphthoic anhydride (H2L2), is described. The y react with diethylzinc to yield the polymeric complexes (LZn)-Zn-1 and (L Zn)-Zn-2. (LZn)-Zn-1 dissolves in the presence of pyridine to form [(LZn)-Z n-1 . py](x), which is presumed to be dimeric. Both (LZn)-Zn-1 and (LZn)-Zn -2 react with neocuproin. Structure determinations have confirmed the tetra hedral ZnN2S2 coordination in the resulting LZn . neo complexes.
