M. Richter et al., REPRODUCTIVE TOXICOLOGIC INVESTIGATIONS O N ADULT MALE-RATS OF THE STOCK WIST LPPT AFTER ORAL APPLICATION OF CADMIUM FOR EFFECT LEVEL DETECTION/, DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 104(5), 1997, pp. 176-178
The reproductive-toxic effects after an oral administration of Cadmium
as Cadmium chloride on testes and epididymidis of mature Wistar rats
were investigated. After daily dosages of 0.3, 0.6, 1.0 oder 2.0 mg Cd
Cl2/kg b. w. over one or two weeks no changes of testes and epididymid
is were detected in comparison with control animals by histological ob
servations. By means of morphometrical methods significant changes of
the testes from a dosage of 1.0 mg/kg b. w. and changes of the epididy
midis previously a dosage of 0.3 mg/kg b. w. have been demonstrated. T
hat means the effect level of Cadmium is higher by consideration of te
stes than of epididymidis. Consequently, during investigations of repr
oductive toxicity one hand to test both organs.
