This paper addresses the design of Colpitts oscillators for 1GHz applicatio
ns. The starting point is the three-point oscillator theory, from which the
resonance conditions will be obtained. Utilizing these results, a Colpitts
oscillator is designed and also realized in the SMD technique. Several exp
erimental results are presented and discussed, showing the applicability of
