Abstract
We discuss the covariant formulation of local held theories described by th e companion Lagrangian associated with p-branes. The covariantization is sh own to be useful for clarifying the geometrical meaning of the field equati ons and also their relation to the Hamilton-Jacobi formulation of the stand ard Dirac-Born-Infeld theory.
