Abstract
Mandrel lubricants are a special group of rubber processing aids used for h ose manufacture, This article concentrates on lubricants for the manufactur e of automotive hoses. These form a subclass of mandrel lubricants and have to meet a surprisingly large number of requirements, such as inertness to rubber and mandrel material, sufficient lubrication over a wide temperature range, low volatility, solubility in water, low toxicity, and more. State- of-the-art mandrel lubricants are mostly based upon polyalkylene glycols or their derivatives.
