The case of a 27 month old male with a congenital midline nasal dermoi
d cyst is presented, The child attended the Ear, Nose and Throat outpa
tient's department in July 1995, with an external midline nasal swelli
ng, which had been present at birth and was noted to be gradually incr
easing in size, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a central defe
ct of the nasal bones, with a soft tissue mass at the upper part of th
e nasal bridge expanding the nasal septum, There was no radiological e
vidence of intracranial extension, The child had the nasal mass remove
d under general anesthesia, through an external rhinoplasty incision,
Histopathology confirmed that the mass was a fully excised nasal dermo
id cyst, Current investigation and management of this condition is dis
cussed.
