Abstract
Conditions of glass formation in the Na2O-PbO-P2O5 system are reported. The glasses have been studied over a wide range of compositions. Their physica l, thermal and spectroscopic properties such as density, molar volume, ioni c conductivity, glass transition temperature and IR spectrous have been inv estigated. The correlation between the physical, thermal, spectroscopic and structural properties has been shown to be coherent with the experimental results. The structural role of PbO is discussed in the light of these expe rimental results. An incorporation model of PbO into the network is propose d. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
