The co-deposition of Hg-Ba-Ca-Cu alloyed films was successfully carried out
by the pulse electrodeposition technique for the first time. A pulsating p
otential with 25 Hz frequency and 50% duty cycle was used. Different proces
sing parameters such as deposition potential, current density, deposition t
ime were studied and optimized. These alloyed films were then electrochemic
ally oxidized from IN KOH solution at room temperature to get superconducti
ng HgBa2CaCu2O6+delta thin films. XRD and microstructural studies were carr
ied out for structural characterization. The films, after electrochemical o
xidation, were tested for their electrical properties and were found to sho
w superconducting behavior below T-c = 104.7 K. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science L
