Abstract
Some results on the study of laser irradiation influence oil magnetic macro scopic properties of Co-Fe-Si-B amorphous ribbons are presented in this pap er. A pulsed laser, with the wavelength of 1.06 x 10(-6) m, pulse width tau = 10 x 10(-6) -20 x 10(-6) s and repetition rate of 5 imp/s was used for e xperiments. Co-Fe-Si-B amorphous ribbons exposed to low laser radiation ene rgies exhibit an increase of the relative magnetic permeability up to 20% o f the as-cast sample value due to the stress relaxation phenomena. The incr ease of the laser radiation energy induces a decrease of the relative magne tic permeability due to the appearance of crystallization phenomena in amor phous material. Pulsed laser irradiation of amorphous ribbons has proven to be a powerful tool for tailoring specific local magnetic properties by sel ectively inducing localized changes in the material microstructure.
