Structural differences between liquid light (protonated) benzene and heavy
(deuterated) benzene at room temperature have been measured using high ener
gy electromagnetic radiation scattering techniques. Intra- and intermolecul
ar effects have been examined, and the main quantum contribution is shown t
o be intramolecular. This is in contrast to the quantum-effects measured in
liquid water at room temperature, which are primarily intermolecular.
