DZ40M alloy is a new Co-base superalloy, which is suitable for the blade ma
terial of gas turbines. In this paper, isothermal oxidation of an aluminide
coating on this alloy was examined at 900-1100 degreesC in air, it was obs
erved that the weight gain at lower temperatures (900 and 1000 degreesC) wa
s greater than that at the higher temperature (1050 degreesC), which was du
e to the formation of both theta -Al2O3 and alpha -Al2O3 at 900 and 1000 de
greesC but only alpha -Al2O3 at 1050 and 1100 degreesC.
