Abstract
A mathematical model that describes the transformation of natural organic m atter (NOM) in Huron River water was developed. The model was expressed in terms of the concentration of humic and nonhumic fractions of NOM. The kine tic parameters, including stoichiometric coefficients and activation energi es were determined. The model accurately described the transformation of hu mic and nonhumic fractions during ozonation over a wide range of ozone dose s, temperatures, and hydraulic retention times. The relative difference bet ween experimental and calculated data did not exceed 10 percent.
