Abstract
By applying the reduced distribution function approach to the diffusio n-influenced bimolecular reaction, we evaluate the effect of excluded volume between nonreacting like molecules on the transient kinetics. I t is found that concentrations of reactant molecules decay more rapidl y with the excluded volume taken into account than without it. Compari son with previous works dealing with the excluded volume effect shows a qualitative agreement, but it appears that previous works underestim ate the excluded volume effect.
