Abstract
Single step syntheses of 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-2,5-d ihydro-8-substituted-1,5- benzothiazepines have been achieved by the reacti ons of five 5-substituted-2-aminobenzenethiols with 4-dimethyl aminobenzal- 4'-chloroacetophenone in ethanol saturated with HCl gas. The structural ass ignments of the final products are based on the results af elemental analys es, IR, H-l NMR and mass spectral studies.
