New liquid-crystalline polyesters were synthesized with the main chain cont
aining mesogenic fragments obtained from terephthaloyl-bis(hydroxybenzoyl c
hloride) and 1,6-hexanediol and tautomeric fragments formed from terephthal
oyl-bis(hydroxybenzoyl chloride) and bis(6-hydroxyhexyl)-1,4-cyclohexanedio
ne-2,5-dicarboxylate. Their enolization was studied by H-1 NMR spectroscopy
, and a linear relationship was established between the enolization ratio a
nd the proportion of the mesogenic fragment.
