The effect of a uniform magnetic field on the viscous and elastic propertie
s of new, rubber-elastic, magnetically guided polymeric materials (magnetoe
lastics) capable of substantial deformation in an external magnetic field w
as studied, it was found that the application of a magnetic field leads to
a considerable rise in the Young modulus and in the viscosity coefficient o
f these materials. A model is proposed which describes the effect of magnet
ic field on the elasticity parameters. Based on the obtained experimental d
ata, the influence of an external magnetic field and a magnetoelastic-stret
ching force F on the volume fraction of polymer regions contracted by inter
action of magnetic particles is considered in terms of the proposed theoret
ical model.
