Gv. Korolev et al., The role of weak intermolecular interaction in the formation of associatedstructures in (meth)acrylates, POLYM SCI A, 43(4), 2001, pp. 455-462
The correlation of the chemical structure of(meth)acrylate molecules to som
e physical properties of liquid media, including binary monomer solutions a
nd solutions of monomers in their saturated counterparts, was studied by ES
R spectroscopy (spin probe technique) and thermomechanics. By the character
of a change in physical properties (structural transition temperatures in
the monomers and binary solutions), the contributions of the double bond, t
he alpha -methyl group, and the CH2 groups of the alkyl moiety to the forma
tion of associated structures of liquid (meth)acrylates were determined. Th
e obtained results were rationalized in terms of the model of reversible in
termolecular pair interactions, attracting the concept of physical networks
formed in the systems of interest.
