Abstract
Cambarus (Puncticambarus) hobbsorum is a new species of crayfish that occur s in parts of the Cape Fear and Yadkin-Pee Dee river basins of North Caroli na. It differs from all other members of the subgenus in having a narrow ar eola; long, plumose setae on much of the opposable surface of the fixed fin ger of the chela of the cheliped in adults as well as juveniles; and a pron ounced, disklike caudal knob on the gonopod of the form I male. These chara cters contradict some aspects of the diagnosis of the subgenus Puncticambar us, which is emended to accommodate C. hobbsorum.
