Beverley Minster: Some perspectives (English church architecture)

In Volume 44 of these Transactions(2000), Paul Barnwell provided an account of recent investigation of the roofs of Beverley Minster, and, in particul ar, of the physical evidence for the scale of the early eighteenth-century restoration above the vaults. As that paper went to press, it became appare nt that various pieces of pictorial evidence(some little known) pose furthe r questions, especially in relation to the development of the central tower . The illustrations are here for the first time gathered together, and thei r evidence discusses in a short commentary.
