Abstract
It is well recognized that inappropriate levels of classroom reverberation and/or noise can deleteriously affect speech perception, reading and spelli ng ability, behavior, attention, concentration, and academic achievement, T he first strategy for improving speech perception within a classroom should be acoustical modification of that environment. With these considerations in mind, this article will review procedures for evaluating, measuring, and modifying noise and reverberation levels in the classroom environment.
