Abstract
Incorporation of [U-C-13]glycerol into the linear plasmid-encoded secondary metabolite methylenomycin A, both intact and indirectly via metabolism to acetyl CoA, was observed in Streptomyces coelicolor suggesting plausible ea rly biosynthetic steps for this unusual antibiotic.
