We perform surface second harmonic reflection (SHR) to study a chiral stilb
ene. It exhibits a strong circular intensity difference in the second harmo
nic signal, but no linear intensity difference and no rotation of polarizat
ion. This SHR optical activity is characteristic of strong magnetic effects
and proves that the molecule under study exhibits a one-electron chirality
