Abstract
P2X receptor subunits have been found in the brain, with P2X(2), P2X(4), an d P2X(6) showing a high level of expression. Here, we review the findings a bout the distribution of P2X receptor subunits in cerebellum and hippocampu s and discuss their implication on the possible roles of ATP a's neurotrans mitter/neuromodulator in the brain.
