Abstract
A reaction mechanism is proposed for the unexpected formation of 3-carboeth oxy-2-methyl pyrroles in reactions of acyclic enaminones with carbethoxycar bene, formed in situ from cupric acetilacetonate catalyzed decomposition of ethyl diazoacetate.
