Abstract
Bone loss is a common problem for individuals with inflammatory bowel disea se. Corticosteroids play an important role in the development of osteoporos is in these patients; however, active disease and longer disease duration a lso appear to increase the risk of osteoporosis. Given the current burden o f osteoporosis, bone mineral density is recommended.
