Abstract
Homosexual persons or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected pati ents frequently excrete cysts of nonpathogenic strains of Entamoeba hi stolytica (''Entamoeba dispar''). However, invasive amoebiasis is rare , Ne report two patients with AIDS and cytomegalovirus colitis in whom invasive amoebiasis was histologically diagnosed, Ii: is concluded th at E. histolytica has to he considered in HIV-infected patients with c olitis.
