In an earlier article in The Journal of Indo-European Studies, vol. 26.1-2
(Spring/Summer 1998), pp. 131-59, the writer argued for a relationship betw
een Indo-European and Dravidian. The present paper supplements that article
, giving a few more etymologies which require a specialized knowledge of Dr
avidian to see, and in two instances Indo-Aryan as well. It also presents a
dditional bibliographic material on interconnections between Dravidian and
other language families or languages. It focuses especially on the work of
two Tamil scholars who earlier also argued for a connection between Indo-Eu
ropean and Dravidian, reviewing their efforts. In the course of the discuss
ion, there are listed a number of attractive proposals suggested by these s
cholars which perhaps argue as well for a genetic relationship between Indo
-European and Dravidian.
