Abstract
A new multihop wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical network with t wo wavelengths per node that can give the maximum throughput and minimum de lay is proposed. It is called a "simple star" multihop network. This networ k has good characteristics in traffic balance and minimum average number of hops. Furthermore, unlike most existing networks, it does not impose an up per limit to the number of nodes.
