Abstract
Raman spectra of syndiotactic polypropylenes of different stereoregularity are reported. Spectra for ordered and disordered structures of these polyme rs were simulated using a small number of parameters. The features that occ ur in the 300 and 400 cm(-1) regions can be used to assess chain tacticity. A quantitative determination of the racemic content of polypropylene can b e obtained from the Raman spectrum in the range of tacticity studied.
