Rv. Dukkipati et Sn. Swamy, Lateral stability and steady state curving performance of unconventional rail trucks, MECH MACH T, 36(5), 2001, pp. 577-587
Modified railway passenger truck designs are considered to improve the comp
atibility between the dynamic stability and the ability of the vehicle to s
teer around curves. A comparative study on the dynamic stability and steady
state curving behavior of some unconventional railway truck designs is car
ried out using linear models. The effects of suspension and conicity are co
nsidered to evaluate the trade-off between dynamic stability and curving pe
rformance. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
