Be-12 molecular states in a microscopic cluster model

The Be-12 spectrum is investigated in the Generator Coordinate Method, usin g microscopic He-6 + He-6 and alpha + He-8 wave functions. The model is con sistent with recent experimental observations of molecular states, but pred icts a strong mixing of both configurations, rather than a dominant He-6 He-6 structure. A negative-parity band is also found. Electromagnetic trans ition probabilities and partial widths of molecular states are calculated. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
