Abstract
Impurity of moisture in the solvent (tetrahydrofuran) alters the normal sch eme of formation of vinylmagnesiumm chloride and gives rise to several unex pected products: benzene, toluene, and methyl chloride. Side products formi ng in alkali hydrolysis of trivinylsilane and hydrochlorination of tetravin ylsilane were isolated and identified.
