In the current borderless economy, all business is global and competition c omes from everywhere, requiring businesses of ail sizes to develop a global perspective, strategy, and skill base. As such, we need to reexamine the c ore competencies of executives, managers, and employees required for succes s in the 21st century. Training and development executives have the challenging job of building wo rld-class organizations by designing education and training strategies that cultivate current and future global leaders, and developing the core compe tencies necessary to win in the global marketplace. Here are 12 steps to ac hieving globalization: 1. Create a global vision and values. 2. Build a global road map. 3. Execute a global enterprise strategy. 4. Create global leadership competencies. 5. Develop globally literate executive teams. 6. Cultivate global leaders at all levels of the organization. 7. Globalize your management routines. 8. Create a global-local business culture. 9. Foster multitalented, cross-cultural teams. 10. Deliver enterprise-wide tools and processes. 11. Create global knowledge banks. 12. Build global-local centers of excellence.
