Bj. Eastlund et al., EMISSION FROM CLOSED AND FILLED MAGNETOSPHERIC SHELLS AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE CRAB PULSAR, The Astrophysical journal, 483(2), 1997, pp. 857-867
An earlier examination by B. Miller and B. J. Eastlund (1996) of coher
ent radio emission from particles confined to closed and filled magnet
ospheric shells that approach the light cylinder of a pulsar is extend
ed to include incoherent emission from energetic charged particles, si
milarly con fined. The emitting particles are now also postulated to b
e electrostatically mirroring in the pulsar's magnetic field. This mod
el generates time-averaged pulse shapes that resemble closely those fr
om the Crab pulsar, over 14 orders of magnitude of frequency, and matc
hes the observed power spectrum over the same frequency range.
