Abstract
In 61 patients undergoing coronary intervention, the antithrombin activity of standard dose abciximab (n = 31) and weight-adjusted heparin was compare d with the RE-STORE dose tirofiban (n = 30) and the same dose of weight-adj usted heparin. Serial measurements of the activated clotting time, prothrom bin fragment F1.2, and GP IIb/IIIa receptor occupancy were obtained in a st andardized protocol. There was no difference in antithrombin activity betwe en these 2 compounds, suggesting that this activity represents a class effe ct related to inhibition of the GP IIb/IIa receptor alone.
