Abstract
A new technique is described whereby the cranial branch of the lateral saph enous vein can be utilised for short- or long-term catheter placement in ca ts and dogs. Although not considered a site of first choice, it has several advantages over other accessible peripheral veins for long-term securement of intravenous catheters when conventional sites are unavailable.
