Aa. Vaidya et al., Synthesis, characterization and evaluation of new polymers for thermoprecipitation of adenosine, BIOTECH LET, 23(10), 2001, pp. 805-809
N-Isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and O-vinyladipoyl uridine were copolymerized
in different feed molar ratios ca. 95:5 to 75:25, respectively. The result
ing polymers were characterized by gel-permeation chromactography, differen
tial scanning calorimeter and cloud point measurements. The number-average
molecular weights of the copolymers were 1.6x10(4)approximate to3.3x10(4).
The lower critical solution temperature of the copolymer of NIPAM and uridi
ne (95:5) decreases up to 29 degreesC, compared to that of poly(NIPAM) whic
h remains at 33 degreesC. These polymers exhibited greater than 80% precipi
tation of adenosine with 60% efficiency of recovery.
