N. Choi et al., Exploratory analysis of the structure of scores from the Multidimensional Scales of Perceived Self-Efficacy, EDUC PSYC M, 61(3), 2001, pp. 475-489
The purpose of the present study was to examine the internal structure of s
cores from Bandura's Multidimensional Scales of Perceived Self-Efficacy (MS
PSE). Data were obtained from college freshmen, a population previously unt
ested with MSPSE. Results show that scores from nearly all items aligned al
most exclusively with theoretically and empirically derived dimensions. Som
e differences in empirically derived dimensions occurred as a result of ext
raction procedures, although the differences observed still provided theore
tically interpretable constructs. These results suggest that Bandura's scal
es, with slight revisions, show promise for research on self-efficacy with
undergraduate college students.
