Abstract
Mr. Haigh argues that limitations inherent in the computer may limit t he degree to which technology can achieve overall improvements in the quality of legal work, Using scenes from Eco's The Name of the Rose as catalysts for analysis, Mr, Haigh compares electronic research with t hat using print resources and finds that, in many instances, the compu ter fails where the book succeeds.
