Abstract
A strain of Micrococcus sp. was isolated for its capability of side chain d egradation of cholesterol. This strain was characterized and identified as Micrococcus roseus. It was found to be the best strain for the production o f androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione and androst-4-ene-3,17-dione compared with other Micrococcus strains.
