Tumor spread w as consistent with squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. Both patients und erwent complete surgical removal of all gross tumor and received postoperat ive radiochemotherapy. The differential diagnosis of squamous cell carcinom a in the pelvis after remote hysterectomy for benign indications includes r ecurrent cancer of the cervix or endometrium, vaginal cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the ovary, and carcinoma arising from squamous metaplasia of the urogenital tract.
