A copolymer formed from aniline and o-aminobenzylamine (ABA) was electroche
mically synthesized from a solution of ABA and aniline with a mole ratio of
85.15. Its properties were studied by cyclic voltammetry. Relative conduct
ivity measurements have been carried out showing that the copolymer's condu
ctivity can be switched in the same way as that of poly(aniline) (PANI); th
ey also indicate the presence of primary amino groups that allow a later de
rivatization.
Ferrocene carboxaldehyde (FeCp2CHO) was coupled to the copolymer showing th
e presence of primary amino groups. This modified polymer also has snitchin
g conductivity properties. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserv
