D. Lauterbach et al., PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE CIVILIAN VERSION OF THE MISSISSIPPI PTSD SCALE, Journal of traumatic stress, 10(3), 1997, pp. 499-513
The psychometric properties of the Civilian Mississippi Posttraumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) Scale were explored. The Mississippi is interna
lly consistent (alpha congruent to .89, split-half r congruent to .80)
, and it can discriminate between traumatized and nontraumatized respo
ndents. However its relationship with measures of PTSD was weaker than
its relationship with measures of depression and anxiety, suggesting
that it may be more of a general measure of distress. The results of a
series confirmatory factor analyses provided mired results. These fin
dings were discussed along with recommendations for use of this instru
ment.
