Quasi-one-dimensional model of carbon nanotubes

A dimensional model was set up to study the electronic and the lattice prop erties of single-walled carbon nanotubes. The calculations clearly confirme d the experimental results: The armchair-type nanotubes were metallic, zigz ag-type semiconductive or metallic, depending upon the chirality and tube d iameters. Our investigation revealed that being quasi-one-dimensional is an essential characteristic of the carbon nanotubes.
