Abstract
UV irradiation of poly(p-xylylene) at 77 K initiates dehydrogenation o f CH2-CH2 bridges, and distyrylbenzene fragments are formed in the pol ymer. The photochemically modified polymer gains the ability to fluore sce at 400-500 nm.
