Lb. Lai et al., Preparation and characterization of Ti-supported nanostructured Pt electrodes by electrophoretic deposition, MATER RES B, 36(5-6), 2001, pp. 1049-1055
Ti-supported nanostructured Pt electrodes were prepared by the electrophore
tic deposition of monodispersed Pt nanoparticles synthesized in reverse mic
elles. The crystal structure of the obtained electrodes was characterized b
y XRD, and their electrochemical properties were investigated by cyclic vol
tammetry in 1.0 mel dm(-3) NaOH solutions. It was observed that the electro
chemical activities of the obtained electrodes were much higher than that o
f the bulk Pt electrode. With the increase in the heat-treatment temperatur
e, the relative percentage of Pt (100) planes increased and the electrochem
ical activity was reduced due to sintering. In addition, the nanostructured
PI electrode with unpolished Ti support showed higher electrochemical acti
vity than that with polished Ti support because of less serious sintering.
