Abstract
Models of tumor growth and treatment based oil one or two ordinary differen tial equations are heavily used in practice because they are simple but can often still capture tile essence of complicated interactions. Currently re levant examples of such models are given here: some classic growth equation s, an ODE pair for tile interplay between tumor and neovascularization duri ng cancer growth or therapy, and an ODE pair for response to ionizing radia tion. Mathematically more sophisticated generalizations of various kinds, u sually more realistic but less practical, are mentioned very briefly. (C) 2 001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
