A novel (E,E)-dioxime 5,6: 13,14-dibenzo-9,10-benzo(15-crown-5)-2,3 is
(hydroxyimino)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (H2L) was synthesized
by the reaction of (E,E)-dichloroglyoxime (5) with 2,3:10,11-dibenzo-
6,7-benzo(15-crown-5)-1,5,8, 12-tetraazadodecane (4) obtained from the
reduction of 1,2-bis(o-nitrobenzylidenimino)benzo(15-crown-5) (3). On
ly mononuclear cobalt(III) and ruthenium(II) complexes with a metal/li
gand ratio of 1:2 were isolated then cobalt(III) complexes bridged wit
h BF2+ were obtained with hydrogen-bridged cobalt(III) complex and bor
on trifluoride etherate. The reaction of BF2+-capped mononuclear cobal
t(III) complex with [Cu(CH3CN)(4)]PF6 gave a heterotrinuclear complex,
The alkali metal binding ability of the mononuclear cobalt(III) compl
ex was also studied. The structure of the dioxime and its transition-m
etal complexes are proposed according to elemental analyses, H-1 and C
-13 NMR, IR and mass spectra.
